Follow @Pampering_In_Pink on social media to find inspirational spaces for women who love makeup as well as for those who don't know where to begin. In THIS space, there's no shaming, no condescending and no question is stupid, we're here to learn from each other. My goal is to help you Discover Your Inner Goddess by teaching you what I've learned so far and to share with you whatever new knowledge I come across as well as insider information on my favorite Beauty line.

I joined Mary Kay about 3 years ago because I was looking to start my own business...but.... I wanted to be connected to a tribe of women I could reach out to for support during the process. I also liked the discipline that was required. A rebel at heart - I had a natural aversion for uniforms and corporate attire, especially skirts but that's a different story. So I loved that I hated everything that was required of me...because I knew that what was required of me was the very thing that was going to force me to push myself out of my comfort zone. So I did it.... and I hated it.... and I dropped it.....then I realized the changes in me that were creeping up in other areas of my life - for the better! Changes that only came to life because I had put myself through that uncomfortable process. So I swallowed my pride along with my "defeated mentality" and I ran back into Mary Kay world. I developed a new image of myself - a corporate one - and started regarding myself as a real business woman. I learned to set goalsdream BIG and to believe in myself. I learned to do things that would've embarrassed me - like knocking on doors to offer women to try the satin hands which is Amazing by the way - and yea I was embarrassed at first, but then it got easier, and then it got fun, and then I realized I had conquered my bashfulness to approach complete strangers! As silly as it may sound, these are skills that I felt I desperately needed, especially since I had no college degree....so... it was either push myself... or be satisfied with a mediocre life. But I knew I was meant for more....so almost 3 years later...I feel more empowered than I've ever felt in my entire life.

The deciding factor that ultimately led to me joining Mary Kay was when I was handed a flyer at an MK meeting that read "Stand Up for Women" and then our Sales Director proceeded to tell us about Mary Kay's non-profit organization - Mary Kay Foundation. The Mary Kay Foundation is committed to eliminating cancers affecting women by supporting top medical scientists who are searching for a cure for breast, uterine, cervical and ovarian cancers.  AND they are also committed to ending the epidemic of domestic violence by providing grants to women's shelters and supporting community outreach programs. They also supported the campaign #LoveIsRespect which is the ultimate resource to engage, educate and empower youth to prevent and end abusive relationships - there's even an emergency hotline for teens in abusive relationships where they can seek help and counseling!

Needless to say I was so moved & inspired. I thought, this is it, this is the company for me.  I wanted to run my business like the company did, through social activism & philanthropy. So then and there I decided to donate a portion of my earnings to causes and charities that are near and dear to my heart. Soon after, I came up with the idea of giving my clients & customer Rewards Points they could stack up with every purchase which they could use towards their next purchase or pick any product of their choice of the value they have on credit and take it home for themselves or to gift to someone else for free - my queen bees love this program! I finally ended up putting two & two together and thought, wouldn't it be a great idea to use the Rewards Points system as a way to help everyday women just like you and I raise money for the charity or cause of their choice through something so simple as purchasing a beauty or skincare product. I mean, when was the last time purchasing a makeup remover helped you raise money for your local animal shelter? So THAT became my mission - to help others help others - and I'm sooo excited about it that I decided to begin documenting my adventures as we buzz about town Inspiring Women, Goddesses, Divas & Queens to pay it forward while giving them an opportunity to rise up to become the future leaders of tomorrow through resources and valuable network connections.

"Mary Kay - Inspiring Female Leadership"

Here are some snapshots and wisdom I learned at
Career Conference 2016 in Orlando, FL

To get to career conference you have to purchase your ticket to register for the conference and then either take a plane or take a road trip with some teammates to get there. You also need to book a hotel room because the conference is usually from Friday to Sunday. And you need to either bring food or money for food. In other words it's not free, it's an investment in yourself, your personal developement and your career. But the ladies who come back year after year do so because they know that they need to...

"Stay MotivatedDreams don't work unless you do".

"Confidence is the best outfit, rock it and own it".

Stay humble. #NoChairDontCare

Every career has it's ups and downs; be willing to open up and share your setbacks and Ah-ha moments with your team to help them find their way and level up. The goal is not to tell them what to do but to guide them as they find their own path. You are building Leaders - not followers.

"Learn together grow together".

"Like mother like daughter"

My earliest Mary Kay memory is - being about 6 years old and accompanying my mother to do facials; and this was back in the day before my mom even had a car. So she would walk to these appointments, pink Mary Kay Suitcase in one hand, and a 6 year old on another.... literally #NoExcuses. I loved to see ladies apply their face masks - some in green others in purple - and then they would wash it off and begin their makeup application. The most vivid images I can recollect are smiling faces. The ladies always had such happy smiles as they listened intently to what my mother said as they applied the concoction of serums & lotions. Thankfully I was a quiet and calm child so I got to sit at the table and watch the whole transformation unfold before my impressionable eyes and I loved every minute of it. Another memory that is etched in my mind is seeing my mother's fiery red suit jacket hanging in the bedroom next to her red pumps, her red jacket became a symbol for me; a symbol of power, beauty, respect and admiration. My mother hardly ever traveled but I do remember one occasion in which my mother left with my father on a trip to career conference, I remember seeing her pack her nicest dress - it was beaded black and it sparkled like a black disco ball, she even had the matching shoes and clutch! I didn't get to see her wear it but I remember seeing it in pictures. She won countless awards and had a vast collection of ladders and bumble bee pins - the bumble bees were my favorite!

What's crazy is that Mary Kay has been a part my my life even before then. When my mother and I crossed the river illegally into the U.S. back when I was just 3 and half years old (we're both citizens now), my mother carried a large bag with our possessions in it - important documents like birth certificates and a few clothes for the journey. Amongst her possessions she carried her Mary Kay color compact with built in rouge and mirror, and a red mary kay lipstick. She was always a classy lady, even while crossing a major river with a 3 year old on her shoulders it was important for her to feel pretty and feminine, it empowered her and gave her the confidence she needed to face this dangerous journey full of uncertainty.

As life would have it, the Mary Kay opportunity came knocking on her door again in 2014 and this time she was determined to go all the way, past red jacket and into Sales Director status. And she did it. Earning her first Mary Kay Career Car along the way. Now we're getting ready for Career Conference 2017. I'm not sure yet where we're going but I'm certain I will not miss an opportunity to represent Latina Women and #MiamiGirls
